1) I opened Sony Vegas and dragged the files I planned on using into the "project media" tab.
2) I then dragged the audio files into their positions timed according to my storyboard.
3) I then dragged the video files into the "trimmer" tab and selected the parts of the clip I wanted to use. Once done, I right clicked on the footage and chose the "select video only" option then dragged the clip into the timeline. This is repeated until all the clips are ordered as I wanted them to be.
4) When text is needed, I clicked on the "media generator" tab and chose text. I then chose the text I wanted, font, size and placement and dragged it into the timeline.
5) Once the trailer was finished, I selected the whole timeline then chose "render as" from the file menu.
