1) I opened my image in Adobe Photoshop.
2) I used the magic wand tool to select the background and delete it, preparing the canvas for the background image.
3) I opened up my background image and moved it onto the magazine canvas.
4) I used the hue/saturation tool to desaturate the background image.
5) I then used the box blur tool to blur the background image. The combination of this and the desaturation makes the forground image stand out more.
6) I then added all the text using the text tool.
7) I then edited all the text to the colours I wanted them to be and used the gradient tool on the text "YOUNG ADULTS" to shadow the sides, making it look more interesting and connoting mystery and danger. I also used the stroke tool to give some of the text a border, ensuring it is easy to read what it says against the background.
8) I then added the barcode image to finish the magazine cover.
