My first plan was very rough and only set about ideas for the cover.

My second one went into deeper detail on what I wanted on the cover with (terrible) sketches and wording for teasers etc.

I then created a questionnaire to go with the flat plan to get feedback on what I had done right and wrong. The questionnaire also had questions about the original and comparing it to my idea as I felt it was important to ensure that it was at least preferable to the original.
The questions are:
- What are your thoughts on the original cover?
- Which magazine cover do you prefer: the original or my version?
- Are there any particular things you prefer in the original over the second?
- Are there any particular things you prefer in the second one over the original?
- Do you think the title of the magazine is good?
- Can you think of any alternate names you think would be better?
- Do you like the picture on the front cover and think it fulfils its purpose?
- Do the teasers make you want to read the magazine?
- Do the subjects interest you?
- If you could change anything about the front cover, what would you change?
The flat plan is clear and straightforward and would give your team (in the real world) a sound idea of the design concept. The questionnaire is interesting too and it has lots of open questions that would give you a wealth of information. Where would you host it/how would you get it to the students? Moodle? The school web site? Paper copies in registers? And how will you show the results and analyse them?
